This is not a review of the movie, which has withstood the test of time and is on almost every list of best movies ever made. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie are incredible even though neither was nominated for an Academy Award for this show.
I have seen this movie over a dozen times on the television and own a DVD of it ( not sure if it is a blue ray or not). I didn’t go to see it at th theater for the story, but for the images, which were, as expected, stunning.
The house at Varykino was one of the highlights of the big-screen experience.
And the sound of the balalaika, especially Lara’s Theme, was captivating.
The theater was almost full for this one-night-only event.

I am glad Cinemark is doing these shows. They are just….more…on the big screen.
